As a native Oregonian, I started leather work to develop a sense of social awareness in the way that waste must be incorporated into a production loop, where nothing is viewed as landfill before being used to its full potential.
As I honed my design sensibility while attending fashion school for product development, it became evident that the big system was optimized by cheap labor and outsourcing. Over time, the consumer loses faith that their dollars in the market are choices on how products are presented. Stronger is the community that has the power resting with the people who love making what they do.
